Sony's New Patent Hints At Wireless Phone-To-Phone Charging Which Might Just Be A Game Changer

Wireless charging is the in thing right now and many companies have already started implementing them on new smartphones. Just like wireless charging, NFC is nothing new either as it is already being used to transfer files and make wireless payments.

However, Sony has somehow married the two and can charge your battery by drawing power from another phone. This is made possible thanks to NFC and this new patent by Sony suggests that it might be a reality soon, given that the company goes ahead with the concept. One must also know that according to Sony's patents, this new futuristic technology is not limited to just mobile phones as one would be able to leech power from a variety of electronics. Some of the devices include computers, washing machines, fridges and even TVs.

The patent details that this technology will work using “a plurality of antenna systems” that will be specifically configured to transfer power and wireless data. This system will be accompanied by a graphical interface that will make it easier for users to connect devices. The interface will also make it easier for the user to choose from the different wireless enabled devices that would be nearby.

However, we all know how companies like to patent every idea that comes to them and there is no telling whether this technology will be available for users in the mass market anytime soon.
